Another 2 weeks passed, and although it’s still not fully functional, I can now give you a short sneak peek into the talisman system.
Many of you asked for some kind of loot system, now (ok, not now, in the release somewhere in the future) here it is! It’s a brand new GC feature (which you can be familiar with from many other games, mainly RPGs): Talisman fragments that can be dropped by slain enemies, or found by looting chests and such.
You can gather the fragments, upgrade them (using shadow cores, the new currency item in GC2), salvage shadow cores by destroying them, and socket them in your talisman to get various bonuses.
Your talisman (which is not a medal on a necklace, but rather a protective sigil attached to the wall of your hideout), can host up to 15 fragments.
Fragments come in 3 shapes, you can have up to 5 of each of them socketed.
There are dozens of properties, from giving damage bonus against a given enemy type, to even slowing down the wave stones. Each fragment can have multiple properties, so you can build up a pretty powerful talisman to aid you in battle.
As you progress through the game, you can find more and more rare (valuable) fragments, which can have higher value or more powerful properties.
The rollover buttons at the bottom of the screen can help you with talisman management, highlighting fragments having a given property type, showing the sum of the bonuses the socketed fragments give, or showing rarity and upgrade levels of the fragments.
