GC2:CS – Shadows + GCL is 2 years old

So who or what are these shadows?
As the story tells, they are powerful demons, second in line only after their queen, the Forgotten, the archvillainess of the GC series.
Gameplay-wise, facing shadows should give you intense boss fights, repelling their dangerous moves while trying to tear down their overwhelming power.

The first time a shadow has appeared in the series was in GemCraft Labyrinth, it was a brief boss fight, and I must admit, it wasn’t as epic as I wanted it to be – my only excuse is that I spent time working on it only at the very end of GCL’s development.

But since then, shadows have learned quite a few new tricks, and they will naturally appear much more frequently as you dive deeper in the game (as the name of the chapter suggests 🙂 ).

You can’t just sit back and watch your gems take care of a shadow, in fact, even your gems will be in danger. You’ll have to prepare some secondary gems in case your active ones get expelled and need to regenerate in your inventory. Using your spells and even gem bombs and wasps quickly and wisely are crucial to defeating a shadow. And even if you pause the game, shadows will still move on slowly…
And if it still wasn’t enough, there can be multiple shadows on the field at the same time.

If you manage to kill a shadow, it will drop loot – not only XP droplets or talismans, but the newly introduced shadow cores as well. Shadow cores will be a resource with various uses, including the ability to upgrade your talismans, unlocking game content, and fueling other powerful features.

In other news:
Today is the 2nd birthday of GemCraft Labyrinth! 🙂 For this occasion, added to Armor Games’ new quest system, GCL has got 16 quests (achievements) to fight for. Still working on the final touches, but it can be online any day now.
