GC2:CS – Skills

The new chapter will have 25 skills laid out in a 5×5 grid. Some skills were dropped or merged, and the new strike spells and gem enhancements brought along their skills. Don’t worry if you’ll miss your favorite skill, the talisman system will add lots of additional bonuses (and it will be easily extendable post-release).

The skills’ art is not finalized yet, lots of refinements and an overall color harmonization is still ahead.

There are no wizard level requirements for skills, instead you’ll have to find the skills’ tomes as dropped loot (some will be easy to find or given at start, some will be hidden deep). If you find a gem component skill, the corresponding gem type will be available on every field (in GCL you had to spend mana on unlocking gem types).

There is a general skill level cap; currently it starts at 5 and increases by 1 for each 10 wizard levels reached (these are non-playtest-proven experimental values, might change wildly, just as everything).

Talismans can give skill level bonuses to a skill or a group of skills (hence the bronzish 3×3 division, gem bomb skills are at the mid bottom for example), which is shown at the bottom right corner of the skill icon (see the critical hit (yellow) gem skill’s “+2” marker).
